7 May 1820   Her sister, Mary Ann, was christened in Enderby (implying, perhaps, a previous Mary who had died. Assuming a pattern of one child every two years, there could have been another child born 1817-18, or possibly just after the parents' marriage.)   Enderby parish register

At the same meeting, temporary relief of 16lbs of bread was also confirmed for her brother-in-law John Hunt, age 39, a loom hand wanting (i.e. lacking) employment and his wife and family.

6 Jun 1841   On the night of the census, Susannah Hunt, occupation 'Inmate' (meaning, of the workhouse) was staying at the house of Thomas and Mary Glover (her parents) along with her daughter Maria (age 2) and three of her sisters, Maria, Elizabeth and Sarah. Her daughter, Mary (7), and son, Samuel (5), were in Barrow on Soar workhouse.   Census
26 Sep 1842   Now 27, she married Robert Greenwood, an agricultural labourer of Queniborough, after banns, at St Margaret's. The marriage certificate describes her (i.e. 'Susannah Hunt') as a spinster (not a widow) with the occupation of servant. Her father's name has not been not entered, (perhaps to save any awkward questions as to why her name is not the same as her father's). A check of St Margaret's marriage register also shows Susannah Hunt, spinster, but, in addition, her father's name, Glover, has been entered and then crossed out.
This marriage suggests that transporting her husband left her effectively if not actually a widow. It is clear that her transported husband was still alive (see Thomas Hunt - Facts) and that therefore the marriage to Robert Greenwood was bigamous. (Ironically, the penalty for bigamy at the time was transportation, although it may be that authorities needing to save money on parish relief would not be too zealous in asking questions.)

Both women's occupations were given as 'hose seamstress', and their birthplaces confirmed as Enderby and South Croxton. Susannah's other Hunt children, Maria (12) and Samuel (15) have not been located (they were not with her parents in South Croxton).   Census
Dec 1854, Mar 1855   The BMD register records the birth and death of one Susannah Elizabeth Glover Greenwood Hunt. The reason for the surname is at present a mystery.   BMD
1857-1858   Her daughter, Susannah Jane, was born. This person must be the Jane Greenwood who later married Benjamin Clark (see 1875 below), since 'Susannah Jane Clark' registered her mother's death (see 1894 below). (Benjamin Clark was also one of the witnesses at the wedding of Mary Hunt in 1889.) Jane was the name of Robert Greenwood's mother.   1861 census
