Susannah Glover

Susannah Glover's first husband, Thomas Hunt, was transported to Australia in 1840, leaving her with three young children and effectively if not actually a widow.

When she married Robert Greenwood in 1842, she was recorded as Susanna Hunt, spinster, although Thomas Hunt was still alive. Ironically, the penalty for bigamy at the time was transportation to Australia.

There is some slight evidence that the authorities were aware of Susannah Glover's true situation and turned a blind eye to it. For more details, see Facts
