  The family moved from Sharnford to Leicester, probably Junior St, All Saints district (see next).    
23 Aug 1853

  His youngest son, Stephen, died 'suddenly, from convulsions caused by irritation of the bowels', aged 2. John was now recorded as a framework knitter, of Junior Street, Leicester. The certificate was signed by John Gregory, Leicester coroner.   Death certificate

25 Mar 1856   His brother, Richard of Sharnford, a 45-year-old widower, married Fanny Wade, a domestic servant from Lutterworth, in the Wesleyan chapel at Sharnford.   Marriage certificate
27 Oct 1857

  His 19-year-old daughter, Jane, died at 22 Wilton Street, Leicester, on her father's 45th birthday of 'mitral disease of the heart'. She was buried on 1 Nov in plot UM 248, Welford Road.   Death certificate;

  His 17-year-old daughter, Mary Ann, died on Christmas Eve in Leicester Royal Infirmary, of 'diarrohea; ulceration of bowels'. She was buried on 28 Dec in plot UM 248, Welford Road.   Death certificate
13 Jun 1858   The following year, John Thacker died at 76 Russell St, Leicester of consumption ('phthysis') aged 45.   Death certificate
16 Jun 1858   He was buried at Welford Road, in plot UM 248. There was no sign of a headstone by 2002.
