Ada G Thacker

Ada Gertrude Thacker married Arthur B Clarke, a tailor, in 1894, when she was 16 or 17. The couple had at least ten children,
as evidenced here.

The fact that eight children appear on the 1911 census and there are another two here makes 1914 a likely date for this portrait.

The eldest son, Wilfred (R), was killed in action in 1917. The second son, Horace Ernest (L) seems to be wearing the uniform of the Seaforth Highlanders. His army service record has not survived, but he appears to have lived until 1972.
