Philip Collins (1924-2007) was Warden of Vaughan College, Leicester, from the late 1940s. Under his stewardship, the Vaughan Players became one of the leading groups of amateur theatrical performers in Leicester. He worked with John Thacker on a number of productions in various capacities, and later became a distinguished Professor of English Literature at Leicester University and a respected Dickens scholar.
