Abt 1815   William Angrave was probably born between July 1814 and March 1816. He appears to have been the last of the four known children of Thomas Angrave (27), framework knitter of Gilmorton, and Ann Angrave, formerly Ann Woodward (27).   1851 census; death certificate; Gilmorton parish register

16 Aug 1834   His sister, Elizabeth, was buried at Gilmorton, aged 21.   Gilmorton parish register
8 Mar 1835   When he was 18, his brother, Thomas, was buried at Gilmorton, aged about 24.   Gilmorton parish register
5 Jan 1837   His brother Thomas's widow, Elizabeth, was buried at Gilmorton, aged 30 [the register gives no indication of the reason for all these early deaths and death certificates didn't start till later in 1837.]   Parish register - Gilmorton
7 Jun 1841   On census night, he was living (or staying) with his parents and a nephew, Miles Angrave, orphan son of his brother, Thomas. (His age was given as 20, implying a birth year between 1816 and 1821.)   Census
4 Feb 1845   When he was about 29, he married Mary Garrett (25) from Walton (the next village: less than a mile from Gilmorton).   Gilmorton parish register; marriage certificate

20 Apr 1848   His second child, Henry Thomas, was born.   Birth certificate

30 Mar 1851   He was living with his wife and son at 'No 59', Gilmorton. (His parents were at 'No 55'.) His occupation was framework knitter, and his age given as 35.   Census

1855-1856   His fourth and last child, Mary Ann, was born when he was about 40.   1861 census

24 Jul 1857   The last surviving of his parents' four children, he died aged 42 of 'abscesses in the back' for which he had been treated for 3 years. The death certificate includes the mark of Ann Angrave, no doubt his mother, present at the death.   Death certificate
6 Jul 1857   He was buried at All Saints' Church, Gilmorton, leaving a widow and 3 young children. His parents were still alive and living in the same village.
